Tumbling Q&A

Q:  How long does it take to accomplish a back handspring?

A:  After coaching for 20 years, the average is 6 months to 1 year.  I have had athletes accomplish this skill in only a few practices and athletes that worked on it for 2 years before accomplishing it.  Conditioning, private lessons, training the skill 2-4 times per week and being consistent will help in achieving this skill at a faster pace.
